I wanted to talk to you about sciatica exercises that relieve back pain. Most people would say that back pain is probably about the worst pain that you could ever experience. It's not like a paper cut that effects a tiny fraction of your body. Back pain is an electrical storm of pain that travels across your back. It's crippling in a way because any little movement could lead to it. You could be reaching into your refrigerator and you feel the sharp pains spread throughout the back. It's a rough time and being able to get easy relief is important. This is why I wanted to share with you sciatica exercises that relieve back pain.

The most common causes of sciatica are: pelvic imbalance, Piriformis muscle tightness, and lower back joint disruption. Pelvic imbalance causes the Sacro-Iliac joints to tighten which then allows the muscles in the buttock to go into spasm, leading to sciatica.

Lower back joint disruption also causes sciatica as the sciatic nerve is created by the lower joints. If these joints fail to move freely then the nerve at its source becomes irritated.

Address the interosseous membrane of low leg by addressing the x,y,z planes in the tissue and the tibia fibular relationship. Seated back work in flexion and extension, and push reach with pelvic triangle awareness. The back work at MDH should lengthen front and back proportionately. The client should be seated on rami with cued direction of awareness, rolling forward into flexion (yield) and extending up (push). Pelvic lift, general neck work and lift at the sub occipitals to end.

The tissue can be navigated in the three planes of movement and dimension. The Frontal, sagital, and transverse planes are functional movement planes of potentials (x,y,z) that are usually inhibited because of asymmetries in the tissue and structure. The tissue in a similar manner has three primary planes of potential, it can lengthen, rotate, and flatten (x,y,z).

Sciatica is back pain that then travels down your leg. I can be a "pain in the butt" to pain in your feet. The biggest fear you probably have is that it will get worse and you may end up needing surgery.

The sciatica exercises that relieve back pain are really easy. The first one involves you laying on your back and pulling your knees up to your chest, giving them a hug. The idea here is to stretch out the lower back, which rarely ever gets a stretch. The other exercise is grabbing onto something above you and allowing it to stretch out your upper body. It's sort of like hanging on the monkey bars.

This is a great opportunity to detail work up each vertebrae addressing side bends with rotations, and drift's of the thorax. The position of the vertebrae dictate's the direction of the drift. The ribs are directly affected by the asymmetry in the spine. The ribs are directly affected and acted upon by the position of the segments above and below one another. Make sure to work the x,y,z planes in the tissue of the IT band lateral line and continue to horizontalize the pelvis.

The best way to ease tension off the Piriformis muscle is to both stretch the muscle and to use Acupressure to reduce overall muscle tension. Stretching the muscle involves you lying on your back and pulling your knee towards your opposite shoulder. This stretches the Piriformis muscle; if you don't feel tightness in your buttock then you need to use a different stretch.

Piriformis tightness is a common cause as the sciatic nerve either runs through the muscle or next to it. If the muscle tightens the sciatica nerve becomes irritated and sciatica occurs.

Treatment for sciatica is varied. It is only possible to find out what treatment is best for you by going to your doctor for an accurate diagnosis. Your doctor may order an MRI to conclude the exact cause of sciatic pain, although many physicians can determine the cause through physical examination alone.

The Acupressure technique is even simpler... A simple Acupressure point to reduce muscle tension is on the back of your knee. Just come in from the outside of your knee where your hamstring tendon is, the depression there is an Acupressure point for muscular tension. Simply hold this point on both knees at once and rest your hands there for at least 5 minutes. The longer you hold the point the more the tension will reduce.

In fact the majority of sciatica is simply fixed. Although disc injuries cause sciatica they are not the majority of sciatica cases. They only attribute approximately 10% of sciatica problems.

The main goals in the third-hour are to address structural relationships that limit the lateral line, Z dimension, and address associated rotations/counter rotations in the arms, legs, and torso. Develop a more balanced relationship between the shoulder girdle and thorax enabling it to move freely on ribcage and in lateral line by addressing the structures that shift the body anterior and posterior.

Proper stretching and exercising, combined with over-the-counter pain medications can assist on the road to recovery. If your pain is not relieved by the milder pain medications, your doctor may prescribe a naroctic analgesic. However be advised that these medications can cause nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness, and may result in dependency if taken over long periods of time. In extreme cases, surgery may be required to remove fragment of the disc.
